UPCYCLING - From Pizza Box to Shop Display

Reduce, reuse, upcycle.

These are core values at Lemonade Resale Shop. For this reason, nearly all of our display materials are made from upcycled items. In some cases this means applying a fresh coat of paint to an outdated bookshelf, or stringing up bunting made out of old book pages.

Rescued frozen-pizza box from the recycling bin

“Please please please don’t put me in the recycle bin! I could be so much more!”

Today I am working on creating size markers for our clothing racks! My family goes through a LOT of frozen pizza. Yesterday this pizza box called out to me. It said, “Please please please don’t put me in the recycle bin! I could be so much more!” Well, who am I to turn down the plea of this pitiful piece of cardboard?

Step One:

I used a pre-existing size tag to trace the circles.

Then began the tedious job of cutting out these circles. (Note - sometimes a job is easier to tolerate if I relabel it as “meditative” instead of “tedious”.)

The cut circles - I love how it’s turning out!

After cutting the circles  out I glued them back-to-back to produce a piece that is sturdy, and has that pretty brown craft paper look on both sides.

This pizza box only generated nine tags, so I imagine I’ll have to repeat this process a few more times to meet the needs of the adult and children’s clothing that I plan to offer in our brick-and-mortar retail space.

They turned out great! Still so much merchandising work to be done, though. Phew.

Continue to check back for more examples of upcycling.

Make something sweet!
